Volunteers are at the core of the success of the most active Friends group in Virginia, the Friends of Pocahontas State Park. Over 28,000 hours were logged collectively by volunteers in 2019!, contributing in multiple core functions and special projects. New members are joining everyday, either through VSP or FoPSP channels.
There are several ways to find out about volunteer opportunities. The FoPSP posts opportunities regularly on the social media site Meetup; however it is recommended that new volunteers also register with DCR. Once registered as a volunteer with DCR, more opportunities can discovered and volunteers can also earn benefits through Virginia State Parks including a free annual entrance (parking) pass and free camping and any Virginia State Park. So, what are you waiting for??
